Quick benefit facts and COLA resources for benefit plans
January 15, 2024
Each year, the IRS, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., Social Security Administration, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Puerto Rico's Treasury Department announce cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) for retirement, health and fringe benefit plans, as well as Medicare, Social Security and Supplemental Security income. Mercer's Law and Policy Group summarizes the adjusted amounts in two annual publications:
- A comprehensive GRIST provides detailed tables listing annually adjusted amounts, along with links to relevant government sources.
- A quick benefit facts sheet highlights key benefit plan amounts in convenient charts that fit on a double-sided page. One side lists current and prior years' key retirement plan limits, along with Social Security and Medicare amounts. The other side shows key health and fringe benefit figures.
This table provides easy access to both publications for five years. Each article summarizes the latest and two prior years' amounts, supplying key annual figures for benefit plans from 2018 on.
