Singapore’s budget for flexible working arrangements (FWA) will increase by SGD $70 million to $100 million and will support employers’ FWA programs, including job-sharing initiatives. The increase follows the 2017 launch of a tripartite standard on FWAs — the government estimates that around 1,300 employers have adopted the standard.
The country’s labor minister recently urged employers to use their FWA programs to increase the employment rate among older workers and to boost family-friendly working arrangements, noting that FWAs have the greatest impact on staff retention. The Ministry of Manpower and Singapore National Employers Federation will publish a guide for employers on flexible working and job sharing.
